It’s lucky for us single folk that Valentine’s Day falls on a Saturday this year! This means we can’t avoid it by hiding behind our desks at work. Let’s face it, there will be couples everywhere this Saturday. You have no other choice but to embrace the day and make it something that you will enjoy. Here’s how:
Morning Work Out
Make your Valentine’s Day a productive one. Don’t stay home and sulk just because you had someone for 2014. Wake up an hour earlier than you usually would on the weekends, and throw on those running shoes. I suggest going for a jog in the park, or a short hike. Embrace the day to it’s fullest by enjoying the greenery of nature and moving to your favorite playlist. Exposure to light and exercise will help increase your serotonin levels, leaving you feeling happy and satisfied.
Just because you aren’t “with” someone, doesn’t mean you need to be alone! Call up some of your single friends and make a date of it. After your awesome morning workout, you’ll be in a great mood- ready to drink, eat and spend time with some of good friends (aka your longest relationships). It’s the perfect opportunity to catch up and gossip about exes past.
Catch a Movie
One of the most anticipated movies of the year will be released on February 13- perfect timing. Don’t worry about feeling alone when you go to see 50 Shades of Grey, I would say it’s fair to assume a large portion of the audience is there for the same reasons you are. Come on, you know you want to grab some popcorn and get your guilty pleasure on.
Prefer Bollywood? Then go for Roy – the songs are already a rage, and there’s something about Ranbir that can really put people in a good mood.
Food’s the answer
At the end of the day, you deserve a nice meal with yourself. In case you are not in the mood, just order a pizza! Or get yourself a box of home-made chocolates! Why? Because chocolate really does make everything better.
Make the day about doing things for yourself that you like. Feel free to embark on your own journey as a single woman on Valentines Day. I think you’ll know where to find me!
