At long last, it’s time for summer vacations! While your tiny tots must be rejoicing at the thought of two months of no school and complete masti, the long holidays are known to cause parents some stress when they are faced with the BIG question – how to keep the kids occupied. Gainfully.

1. Hop, skip and Hip Hop
As it gets too hot for kids to get outside, the best way to channel their boundless energy can be by enrolling them in a dance class. Dancing is a wonderful activity for kids. Fancy dress days can be a big saviour apart from being absolute fun. Kids are fascinated with their super heroes and comic characters. Plan a fancy dress day and let them create their own props and masks. Superman, Batman, Spidey, a pirate, a friendly alien, an astronaut or Iron man- let them workout their thought muscles! We bet you will be amazed by their imagination. The whole process of planning to execution will keep them occupied till evening. And then you surprise papa!
4. Tinker on, Tinkerbell
Let your kids discover something rare and soon-to-be antique. We are talking about that old radio, abandoned stereo player and gadgets that were once very precious but now are gathering dust in some corner of the house. It’s time to bring them out and let your kids tinker with them, pull them apart and try to put them together again. Recommended for kids above 7 years.
5. Move over Einstein

6. Little Masterchefs

Did you know that soil contains bacteria that can make us happy? No wonder, gardeners are some of the happiest people on the planet. Start a gardening project with your children, let them take care, water and see their hard work bloom within a couple of days. Add garden tents, gnomes, scarecrows to make it more interesting. Remember, sweet little gardeners need a regular supply of lemonade and lassi.
8. Movie Time
Play dates are quite the norm in the West but more and more mommies are planning similar meetings in India as well. A good idea is to call your kid’s friends over for a nice movie on a hot afternoon while sipping on a cold drink and some cookies, maybe? You can rest for some time while your little one’s curious minds are entertained by sci-fi or animated flicks.
9. A Beautiful Mess!

Buy painting stationaries, chart papers and items to make an art studio for the little Picassos. T-shirt painting and wall posters can be cool too. Let your kids unleash their imagination this summer vacation.
10. Visiting Gramps
Vacations are a good time to reconnect with friends and relatives. Your little ones will love the idea of a trip to nani’s place! It’s quite common for kids to be packed off to their grandparents’ house for the summer.
